Kyaik-hti-yoe (Golden Rock Pagoda)

Knowns as "The Golden Rock", it is located at an elevation of 3615 feet on the Paunglaung mountain in Kyaikhto Township of Mon State, some 145 miles (230 km) from Yangon. Its precarious perching on the steep-edge of a curvilinear cliff is beyond the scientific theory and testimony, and sharing fantastic beauty as well breath-taking scene for every guest to come. The unspoiled nature of rain forest and its treasure would be enjoyed through a three hour down-hill trekking but for stead-fasten and tolerant one only. It could be accessed by a three and half hour driving from Yangon.

Thaton

Ancient capital of Mon people, it is still having some historic monuments. Of them, Shwe-sar-yan is the most famous. Pitakataik, Thagyar Paya together with and Yan-aung-myin pagoda are similarly adorned with high terraces, terra-cotta plaques, flights of steps and balustrades at cardinal points reflecting the orientation for Bagan monuments later. The contemporary lithic-inscriptions including Trap and Pandit in old Mon languages can also be studied there.

Mawlamyaing

It is located on the river bank of Thanlwin, just across to Mottama (historic Martaban formerly). It is the capital of Mon State and the third largest city of Myanmar. The city and its environs have reputated as the centre of rubber (white-gold), and tropical monsoon fruits of durian, mangosteen, rambantan, jack-fruit and so on. The Edwardian villas and some visiting spots could be enjoyed.

Kyaikthanlan pagoda

It is the prettiest point of the city and adorned with of the Buddha and his numerous followers in voyaging position. Curiously, a bronze bell having the curse in English could also be enjoyed.

Kyaikmaraw Payagyi

It is actually a large Buddha-image in sitting position built in 15th century by queen Shin-saw-pu, the grand donor of Shwedagon at Yangon. Gardening of fruits should also be dropped in.

Kawgoon cave

It is located some 28 miles (45 km) to the north-east of Mawlamyine and 8 miles (12km) to the south-west of Pa-an. Like "Thousand Buddha-image Cave" in China, the cave is completely inset with thousands of small Buddha-images in row by row. Among them crown Buddha-images and Hindu deities are also seen. Mawlamyaing trip could not be completed without the visiting of Kawgoon Cave.

Myoma market and Dawei jetty at Mawlamyaing rubber plantations and a gigantic reclining Buddha, the biggest of its kind in Myanmar after completion, known as Win Sein ascetic compound at Mudon, some 18 miles to the south of Mawlamyaing, Chaungson and Ywalut villages of Belu island should be addeed if leisure.

Thanbyuzayat

In connection with the Dead Railway, "The Bridge on the River Kwai" as movies, the town is being visited for war cemetery and site-museum to commemorate the railway so intentionally built to link Thanbyuzayat of Myanmar and Thailand via Payathonzu pass in 1942-45 by the labour of different ethnic groups as POWs.
